About Me

I am a recent college grad from a small liberal arts university in the midwest.  Currently I'm living in Chicago trying to work out a life where I can follow my passions. This is the brain child of one of my current passions, horizontal learning / the expanding student debt bubble / democratization of education and everything else that is connected to these topics.

I don't know how to explain it, but when I heard the news that the student debt in the US was one trillion, it was like I fell in love. But instead of cupid's arrow with pretty hearts, it was a giant WTF!?!?! arrow; infecting my mind, diving me to obsession.  I fell in love with the idea of devoting my life to fixing this giant stinking problem.  I've hatched big plans to run away with this idea, I excitedly told friends and strangers. This mainly one sided relationship has had it's ups and downs, it's hot and colds, if you would.

And so I started this blog while distracting myself from applying to grad school; daydreaming about education reform and the day we would be together at last.  I hope this blog will serve as a more constructive place to share my thoughts and coherent rants on the various subjects plaguing my mind. Hopefully all these emotions will evolve into something less chaotic.

Here is the list of topics I am currently obsessed with
  • Online education, learning material
  • Changing student loans policies
  • Alternatives to traditional college programs
  • Tracking universities efficiency in preparing students for getting jobs
  • Decreasing the gap between unfilled positions and the un/underemployed
If you find your self obsessed with these or related subjects like myself, your insightful and constructive comments are welcome.
